WhatsApp is on its way to support multiple devices using the same number

After years of claiming support for the entire same number on multiple devices in WhatsApp, the company hopes to soon offer that support to users, according to the company's head.

Will Cathcart, president of WhatsApp, and Mark Zuckerberg, head of Facebook that owns the company, told WABetaInfo that WhatsApp has found a way to allow users to connect up to 4 devices on the same number without the need for the Internet. on the main machine.

WhatsApp allows logging in from different devices, but provided that there is an internet connection to the main device. When logging in to the web version, the base phone must be active and connected to the internet to continue running the web version, when the phone loses the internet connection, it will reflect the loss of connection to the web version, but with the new news, this is on the way to change.

Will Cathcart told WABetaInfo that support for more than one device using the same number and separately will likely be available to users within the next couple of months.

For his part, Mark Zuckerberg said that all messages will be end-to-end encrypted as with their current state and there will be no changes to the encryption method when support for multiple devices using the same number is launched.

This is an important step from Facebook and WhatsApp to attract users and restore trust, as it is a step towards turning the application into a more integrated platform, especially with many users heading towards Telegram due to the renewed privacy policy issues with WhatsApp.

It is noteworthy that Telegram, the largest competitor to the WhatsApp application, has been supporting the operation of more than one device using the same number for a long time, as the desktop application can be used separately from the phone application even in the absence of an Internet connection on the phone with the main number.
