Google has a history of admitting having phones it announces in response to rumors, in 2019 it tweeted an image of Pixel 4 after leaks began appearing around the phone.

Google said in response to a rumor that the phone has been completely canceled: The Pixel 5a 5G phone has not been canceled, and it will be available later this year in the United States and Japan, and will be announced in conjunction with the launch date. . From last year's series phones.

Android Central cited independent sources claiming that the Pixel 5A was canceled, after a tweet from a popular (John Prosser) John Prosser leak that the cancellation was due to a lack of chips.

However, the chip shortage appears to be real, as Google is only planning to release the Pixel 5A 5G in the US and Japan.

Code indicating the presence of the Pixel 5A appeared in the AOSP Android open source project as early as July 2020.
